Hand screed flooring/dry shake topping/upper floor slabs to decking/external hardstanding |
DESCRIPTION OF WORKS:
Malin were employed to provide the complete slabs package on a supply & fix basis. Due to the building being designed as a faraday cage to aid with lightening threats the slabs needed to be included as a continually reinforced element and contained a single layer of mesh tied and linked at 2m c/c through all joints. With the reinforcement set up prior to pouring a hand laid slab was provided to achieve FM2 TR34 (2003).
Hand Screeded Slabs to Ground Floor Slabs
Approximately 18,500m2 of 150mm & 175mm thick reinforced with a layer of A193 mesh was provided over 20pours, formwork was a combination of Permaban Alpha joint in trafficked areas and temporary timber shutters. Sika Syntop 2 Natural dry shake topping was applied by Tremix spreader to a dosage of circa 5kg/m2 as specified by the client. A powerfloat finish was provided to achieve FM2 tolerance.
Upper Floor Slabs
2,500m2 of concrete slabs to Kingspan MD60 metal decking (fixed by others) was constructed by hand application reinforced with a single layer of A252 mesh and perimeter U bar reinforcement. The works work completed in 3pours.
External Hardstanding
A total of 2,800m2 of hand constructed external grade concrete was provided to 4 isolated areas in a total of 4 pours. A powerfloat & brush finish was provided with trowelled margins.
