Malin currently own two spreader machines, Topp&Screed TS-5000 (http://toppandscreed.com/) and the STS 132 Topping Spreader (www.somero.com) for mechanical application of dry shake toppings. These toppings can also be applied to hand laid slabs by using a Tremix spreader or by hand application.
The spreader machines apply the dry shake material onto concrete that has just been laid and is still in its ‘fluid state’. The parent concrete provides the water required to hydrate the cements in the dry shake material which is then power floated into the concrete providing a monolithic finish at the surface.
A dry shake topping can be specified for various applications including: -
- Fibre Suppressant aid for slabs incorporating steel fibre reinforcement.
- To aid achievement of Abrasion resistance requirements such as AR special & AR1. (TR34)
- For aesthetic qualities where a range of colours can be provided.
